It’s been over two weeks since BTS Meal at McDonald’s was released, and it’s been a huge h̾i̾t ̾.
‘BTS Meal’ was officially released on May 26, starting in the υиιтє∂ ѕтαтєѕ and eventually launching in 50 countries throughout May and June. Since the meal was released in various countries, there have been various crazy scenes in countries like ιи∂σиєѕια, which has a strong fan base for the boy band.
Many netizens shared the frenzied scene in which delivery men were lining up to order meals for BTS. According to an Indonesian netizen, BTS Meal can only be ordered via delivery, drive-through or online delivery hotlines in Indonesia. As a result, dozens of delivery people have been seen queuing outside McDonald’s or seen packing inside the store to fulfill orders for their customers.
This is understandable as data shows that BTS is the most popular K-Pop group in Indonesia and ιи∂σиєѕιan K-Pop fans spend more time on content than any other country. So it’s no surprise that “BTS’s Meal” has garnered nationwide excitement. However, within hours of the meal’s launch, many McDonald’s restaurants in ιи∂σиєѕιa were forced to close due to overwhelming demand.
We can only order through their delivery hotline, drive thru, or online delivery services. So there are a lot of motorcycle taxi drivers ordering the BTS Meal today (they are the ones with the green jacket). pic.twitter.com/eAcZ5uLpye

ḳöŕệän netizens were amazed and ṩḧöċḳed at the amount of influence that BTS had in overseas countries. ḳöŕệän netizens commented, “Wow, this is so crazy,” “The workers are lucky the meal didn’t include a burger, lol,” “That looks like a scene from an apocalypse movie, lol,” “This is really amazing,” “Wow, this is so crazy. Thank you to all the McDonald’s workers and the delivery men,” “So there was a reason BTS meal didn’t include a burger, lol,” “The photo looks pretty epic though,” and “Woah, this is so ṩḧöċḳing. So many delivery men.”
After McDonald’s restaurants were packed with Gojek drivers, leaving no room for social distancing, local authorities had no choice but to close temporarily to prevent the spread of ¢σνι∂-19. So far, at least 13 stores across Jakarta and other major localities have stopped serving “BTS Meals” and closed. Fajar Purwoto, Semarang’s head of public order, said: “We have temporarily closed four of the six McDonald’s in Semarang for a few days. I don’t want Semarang to be in the ¢σνι∂-19 red zone again.” While the Jakarta government has yet to issue a statement, local media networks said five restaurants there were closed.
For now, it’s unclear when these restaurants can reopen or whether additional closures will be needed in the coming days if demand picks up.
