A set of twins from Tennessee gave birth to daughters on the same day they were born, which also happened to be their birthday.
Amber Tramontana and Autum Shaw say they’re still in ̾s̾h̾o̾c̾k after giving birth to daughters 90 minutes apart on Oct. 29 — their 33rd birthday. “This is our testimony,” Autum, Charleston’s mother, says. “You couldn’t possibly have planned this… God made our story very special, and all the little details came together to form a big, beautiful picture, for which I am grateful.” Amber, Blakely’s mother, adds: “Pregnancy and childbirth are both stressful and trying experiences. It’s beautiful, but it’s a difficult stage of life, and having Autum with us every step of the way has been a huge blessing… we’ve had that our entire lives, so this is just another thing to add to the list.”
Amber and Autum grew up together in Tennessee and remained inseparable as they pursued bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Carson Newman University. They even went on to become registered nurses and nurse practitioners together. Thirty-three years is a long time to make memories, and they’ve done it all together, through school, grad school, their careers, and on into adulthood, getting married. They’ve always had a co-pilot for everything.
Amber, who lives in Knoxville, chose to work in the maternity and oncology units, whereas Autum, who lives in Morristown, worked on the trauma floor and practiced orthopedic nursing. Their specialties are also a good fit for their personalities. Autum adds: “Amber is the organizer. She’s more type A, while I’m more type B, so we’ll go with the flow. And it just so happens that this works for us.”
Two years ago, the twins’ fates converged once more when both discovered they were expecting their first children. They were both boys. That’s where Autum believes the miracle shines. Autum’s husband Scott and she attempted to conceive for about two years. When they found out they were pregnant with their son, they discovered Amber had just returned from her honeymoon and was also pregnant. So what took them two years only took her a week.”
Despite being born ten weeks apart, the boys, Briggs Tramontana, and Maverick Shaw, were the same height and weight. Autum reports that she became pregnant again in December 2019 but miscarried on Christmas Day. “After the heartbreak, we became pregnant again in a concise period,” Autum recalls. “Amber FaceTimed me one night and told me, ‘Well, I wasn’t going to tell you this, but I’m pregnant.’ ‘Well, I wasn’t going to tell you this either, but I am,’ I said.” The twins quickly discovered that they had the same due date, which happened to be their birthday. They both blame it on divine intervention.
“After our miscarriage, we questioned ourselves, ‘Why did we have to go through this?'” Autum expresses her and her husband Scott’s g̾r̾i̾e̾f ̾. “But we knew God had a plan for us, and… whatever that plan was, it was, without a doubt, bigger than anything we could ever imagine.”
