You’ll be a mom soon; in a few months, you’ll be holding your little bundle of joy! However, these seven things you do daily should be avoided while pregnant, especially if you have a difficult pregnancy. It is time to make physical as well as psychological changes.
1. Avoid eating these things
The most important and frequently repeated advice that any pregnant woman receives is what to eat and what not to eat. While most of it is based on superstition and hearsay, some foods should be avoided during pregnancy:
Raw and deli meat: Infections can be transmitted by raw or improperly prepared meat. During pregnancy, it is best to avoid such foods. Deli meat is also at risk of contamination. Bacteria and listeria from such meat enter the fetus through the placenta and infect it.
Raw eggs: There is a risk of salmonella infection when eating raw eggs. As a result, it is best to avoid foods that may contain raw eggs.
Fish with high levels of mercury: Even if your taste buds demand it or your baby craves it, it is best to avoid sea fish with high levels of mercury, such as tuna and mackerel. Freshwater fish, on the other hand, is a better choice.
Unpasteurized dairy products and soft cheese: These can contain listeria, so expectant mothers should avoid them.
Products containing caffeine: The most important thing to remember about caffeine is that it crosses the placenta. While you may need those cups of tea and coffee to keep your body and mind stimulated, your growing baby does not. However, if consumed in moderation, it does pose a risk. Caffeine can also be found in chocolates, sodas, and some over-the-counter medicines, in addition to tea and coffee.
2. Must avoid päṩṩive smoking
Most expecting mothers are aware that they should not smoke during their pregnancy or breastfeeding period. However, it is also critical to avoid being a päṩṩive or secondhand smoker. Secondhand smoke contains approximately 4000 ċäńċệŕ-causing chemicals. It also increases the chances of premature birth, miscarriage, low birth weight, learning or behavioral issues in childhood, and sudden infant d̾e̾a̾t̾h syndrome.
3. Avoid using medications as much as possible
While some medications should be avoided entirely during pregnancy, it is also recommended that a medicine-free pregnancy will protect the developing baby from any harm. As a result, it is best to avoid taking over-the-counter medications or self-prescribed supplements without first consulting a doctor.
4. Shouldn’t Wear High Heels
The center of gravity shifts as the belly expands during pregnancy. This can cause shakiness in the feet at times. Wearing stilettos or unstable heels increases the risk of tripping. During these times, flip flops, wedges, and platform heels are more comfortable. Swollen ankles and feet can also be alleviated by wearing comfortable shoes.
5. Not drink at any cost
The placenta and umbilical cord are both crossed by alcohol. It has the potential to harm the baby’s developing brain and organs. Miscarriage, premature delivery, stillbirth, birth defects, and brain damage are all possible outcomes. As a result, it is best to avoid any drink that contains alcohol.
